Tesi Sanchez-Halpert of Moorpark, California takes rusted metal and uniquely recycles it as she welds steel, bringing it to life in creative and whimsical home and garden sculptures. All the sculptures are made from found steel therefore there are no 2 sculptures exactly the same.
Tesi says,. “After my stroke in February of 2004, I appreciate more what I see. Now more than ever, I try to create feel good art to spread the joy I feel for life itself. My Mother’s favorite motto rings more true than ever: Live well, laugh often & love much. I try to spread the joy I feel by making you smile”
Tesi’s husband was aware of the therapeutic effect art has and the joy it brought her to create, so while she was still under the care of therapists; Daniel provided the occupational therapist a welding helmet and gloves, until she was deemed safe to continue creating and share her joy.
Mark your calendars. She will be the featured artist at the Buenaventura Gallery in Ventura at the end of 2006.
