Steve Cook is a 21st Century Pre-Apocalyptic California Impressionist oil painter, specializing in our environment and culture and their relationship to each other. He paints both in the studio and plein air. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and has studied with some of the great modern plein-air painters (Ovanes Berbian, George Strickland, Ken Auster and John Comer).
He has had solo shows at Buenaventura Art Gallery, Harbor Village Gallery, Gallery 113, Wet Sand, Ventura Wine Company, Pierpont Racquet Club and Meridians World Café. Group shows include Palm Loft Gallery, Art Alfresco Ventura County Museum, Apassionata, Ventura Music Festival and the Focus on the Masters Studio Tour.
He is currently Artist in Residence at Firestone Vineyard in Los Olivos. His paintings are featured on 11 different wines produced by Foley Family Wines, owners of Firestone. His work has also been featured in many publications by the Ventura Visitor and Convention Bureau. He was featured in the May issue of Skywest Magazine and in the September issue of Coastal Living Magazine.
