Nancy drew microscope drawings in high school Chemistry Lab class and received A’s. She began drawing again in 1970 in Newport, RI. She joined an art class at the Newport Art Association and participated in the art shows. Her interest in art continued with classes at the Vallejo Art Association, California. While living in Gaeta, Italy, she was commissioned to paint a mural at the Child Care Center. She has also lived in Japan and Scotland, and visited Athens. Nancy studied at Ventura and Oxnard College. She is currently a member of the Buenaventura Art Association and the Ventura Museum of History and Art. Her framed 5 x7 original oils, note cards and reproductions are on display at the Harbor Village Gallery’s Store, Ventura Harbor.
Her favorite place is Surfer’s Point, where the ocean gives her a sense of peace and calmness and she loves to watch the surfers. She also enjoys painting birds that visit her back yard. She takes many pictures with her digital camera and creates a painting of the scene or incorporate two of the pictures for a painting. Her preference is oil on canvas with attention to detail and she attempts to portray the feeling of the moment.
