Longtime Ojai resident, Nancy Horwick is a former student of established British trompe l’oeil painter Robert Walker. She is a member of Buenaventura Art Association, the Ojai Art Center, SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment), and Carpinteria Valley Art Association. She’s a featured artist at Massarella Gallery and Pottery School in Ojai, as well as exhibiting in ongoing shows at Buenaventura Gallery, Harbor Village Gallery, and Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, and various shows at the Ojai Art Center. Her work has won several awards, and her piece “A Fragrant Read” was chosen for the Lavender Festival poster in 2008.
“I am a close observer of people and places, which influences the subjects I choose to paint. I’m strongly motivated by color and the way light plays on various surfaces. I love pieces that suggest a story.”
