The artist, Lois Bloom, loves watercolor because it is so excitingly unpredictable. A native of eastern Montana, she paints scenes of the prairie, her adopted home of Ventura, or from various travels. Color and light dominate her boldly realistic paintings.
Lois was a self-starter, exhibiting in the local Prairie County Fair, winning the Fine Art Sweepstakes. She studied art at Eastern Montana College in Billings, MT. Watercolor painting began under Stephanie Elise of Ventura and continues with classes at Ventura College.
She has had two one-woman solo shows, one in Terry, MT and the other at the Buenaventura Gallery in Ventura. She has exhibited her work at the Prairie Unique Gift Store and won awards at Dawson County Unlimited Gallery in MT. Locally, she has shown and/or been awarded prizes at Ventura County Fair, Ventura Art Walk, Gold Coast Watercolor Society, Thousand Oaks Civics Arts Plaza, Leeds’s Gallery, Harbor Village Gallery, and Buenaventura Gallery.
