Gail Pidduck

ruralist n. one who leads or advocates a rural life

I consider myself a “ruralist”. For the past 20 years I have had two main motivations as a painter. One is the desire to help viewers see the importance of our rural treasure, the other is to portray the dignity of agricultural workers.

I enjoy painting both in the field and in my studio in Santa Paula. I work in oils with most of my small works on board and the larger pieces on canvas.

Booker T. Washington said, “No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem.”

Pidduck’s work can be seen at the Buenaventura Gallery or at her studio by contacting pidduck@aol.com.
