CSUCI Student Ashleigh Norman won 1st place in
Buenaventura Art Associations Collegite competition
Ashleigh Norman (California State University at Channel Islands) won 1st Place and a $1,500 scholarship in Buenaventura Art Associations 4th Annual Collegiate Art Student Competition. 2nd Place and a $750.00 scholarship went to Raul Valdez of CSUCI. Korinne McKinley (CSUCI) won 3rd Place and a $500 scholarship. Honorable Mentions and a $250 gift certificate to Ventura Creates! Art Supples went to Ayla Barber (Oxnard College); Brock Potter (Ventura College); Dylan Zmed (CSUCI); Jose Zuniga (Oxnard) and Raul Valdez(CSUCI). All winners also won a membership to Buenaventura Art Association with free jurying fees and no required volunteer time (worth approximately $500.00). In addition, Janette Corona, Ashleigh Norman, and Ranelle Estellado (CSUCI) Julia Bagdasaryan, Sheila Farr and Forest Baker (Ventura College), and Ana Morales, Francisco Magdaleno and Oguin Tapia H (Oxnard College) all won Honorable Mention Awards and a membership to Buenaventura Art Association.
The funds for the competition were a direct result of Buenaventura Art Association’s “2010 Two Trees Calendar” fundraiser, the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust and the Jessica & Stanley Prescott Endowment Fund for the Arts.
