Buenaventura Art Associations 1st Annual Emerging Artist Cup
Scholarship Competition for Ventura County College/University Students

Buenaventura Art Association’s 1st Annual Emerging Artist Cup at the Harbor Village Gallery received entries from California Lutheran University, California State University Channel Islands, Moorpark College, Oxnard College and Ventura College.  All of the winner’s were from Ventura College.  This exhibit of exciting student work runs through March 18, 2007.

Nolan Biberston won First Place as well as $1,000 scholarship for his untitled clay piece.  Elizabeth Daniel won Second Place and a $500 scholarship for her graphite piece titled, “His and Hers.”  Sivonna A. West won Third Place and a $250 gift certificate for Dick Blick’s Art Supply for her relief print titled “Personified Landscape #1”.  Honorable Mentions as well as a $125 gift certificate went to Jack Halbert and Arnold A. Orosco.  In addition to prizes mentioned above, all winners received a one year membership in the Buenaventura Art Association.

Funds for the 1st Annual Emerging Artist Cup were raised in Buenaventura Art Association’s September 2006 “Who Got Framed?!” fundraiser.  50% of the proceeds were earmarked for the competition.  The next “Who Got Framed?!” fundraiser is scheduled for September 15.
