Carol Simson, NWS

Carol Simson was born in Fargo, North Dakota and raised on a farm. She moved with her husband and two sons to Ventura, California in 1974.

She had her first drawing class as well as her first color and design at Ventura College in the Fall of 1991 with Gerd Koch. She started watercolor painting in 1992 with Hiroko Yoshimoto. She continued her education at Ventura College and earned her AA in Fine Arts in the spring of 1996. In addition to Gerd Koch and Hiroko Yoshimot, she studied with Carlisle Cooper, Richard Phelps, Norman Kirk and Rugh Eyrich.

She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS). Her "Patio Series II" was in the 79th Annual International Exhibit held in Brea, California in October, 1999. She exhibited in the NWS's Annual International Membership Show in 1998, 1999, and 2000. She has exhbited in the San Diego's Watercolor Society's International Exhibition in 2000 and 2001; the International Exhibition of Echoes and Visions IV, Laguna Nigel 2001; Carnegie Museum Classic Competition in Oxnard, CA 1997 and 2002. She won the juror's choice award in 2000. She was the City of Ventura's featured artist for Artwalk in 2006.

Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections. Giclees are also available.
